Free Software Trial Workbook for Solo Contractors

Test QuoteIQ, Jobber and Housecall Pro against the same 15 tasks, record actual subscription quotes, and compare first-year costs before buying.

Free Excel download (13.5 KB): Download the four-tab software trial workbook (.xlsx). No email address or signup required.

What is included?

The workbook has Instructions, Trial Tasks, Cost Model, and Decision tabs. Five workflow tests per vendor cover estimates, scheduling, estimate-to-invoice conversion, payment reconciliation, and data export. The cost model includes 12 months of subscription fees, one-time fees, migration hours, and overlapping subscriptions.

How to use it

  1. Download and open the file in a compatible spreadsheet application. Some applications require enabling calculation or importing the workbook.
  2. Enter your observed results and evidence for each vendor's five tasks. Use fictional jobs, not real customer records.
  3. Enter actual vendor quotes and estimated migration costs. Enter zero explicitly where a cost does not apply.
  4. Enter your maximum first-year budget, then review the Decision tab. It remains on HOLD until required evidence, passing tasks, and budget inputs are complete.

What the workbook does not establish

No vendor pricing, feature access, affiliate status, or merchant endorsement is prefilled. A spreadsheet score is a decision aid, not a substitute for verifying a plan at checkout. The file contains no macros, external workbook links, or automatic network requests.

For an on-page trial checklist, use the five-task interactive scorecard. To compare vendor approaches, see QuoteIQ alternatives for solo contractors and QuoteIQ vs Jobber.
